How can I brew my coffee for maximum extraction?
By making the choice to buy our fresh roasted beans, you are halfway to brewing a great cup!
Grind just enough coffee to make a pot. The grind should match the brewing method you are using. A medium grind is usually best for drip pots; course ground coffee is best for a press pot; use finely ground beans for espresso; and extra–fine for turkish coffee.
Use 2 tablespoons of ground coffee per 6 ounces of water. (Those markings on your carafe are probably not 6 oz. cups!)
Use pure, filtered water (but not distilled) that has only just been brought to a boiling (if it boils for awhile, it will taste flat) 190° to 205° F.
Brew time should be about 4 minutes.
Store the coffee in a thermal carafe and never apply heat.
If the coffee is strong, just add hot water.
